Kindergarten 2024 – Welcome to BPPS

Dear parents and carers,

We are very excited to be welcoming your child on their first day of Kindergarten!

Best Start Assessment

Please be reminded that your child’s Best Start Assessment will be on Thursday or Friday this week (please refer to your booking made previously).

On arrival for your child's appointment, please sign in via the QR code at the office or the Kindy classroom (where your child attended orientation) at least 10 minutes before the appointment time, where you will be directed to the teacher conducting your child's assessment.  Please be on time for this appointment.  The teacher conducting this assessment may not necessarily be your child’s class teacher for 2024.

The assessment lasts approximately 40 minutes.  These are student only appointments and parents/carers are to wait in the seated area provided until assessments are completed.

Please note this is not a full school day.  Students are not required to wear a school uniform and students are only required to attend school for the duration of their assessment.

If your child wears glasses, please ensure that they bring them to the appointment.

First Day Arrangements

Your child’s first full day of Kindergarten is Monday 5 February 2024.

On this first day, please bring your child to the school covered seating area outside the Kindergarten classroom at 8.45am.

You will be met by a member of staff who will give your child a name tag.  A student leader will then accompany you to the classroom. Please say goodbye outside the classroom and give your student an independent start to school. Please then join the P&C in the school hall as they have organised a welcome morning tea for parents/carers to welcome Kindergarten families to BPPS.

Please ensure that all your child’s possessions are labelled including school hat, jumper (if required), school bag, lunch box and plastic drink bottle. Lunch, afternoon tea and ‘crunch and sip’ (a small fruit or veg snack) should be packed in three separate containers. Please do not send fizzy drinks or glass bottles to school, and due to allergies, do not pack nuts or nut products for your child.

All Kindergarten children are to be collected from their classroom at 3.00pm. (Parents/carers, please wait next to the kindy classroom veranda.) Children enrolled at our Out of School Hours (OOSH) centre will be collected and taken to the assembly hall at this time.
